LAKE BALATON

The Balaton is the biggest and warmest lake of central Europe and the most famous destination inside of Hungary. In summer time, temperature can vary between 22 and 30 degrees. The southern shore is perfect for families and their children as the water is quite shallow. The southern part has 70 km of nice sand beaches. Between Balatonliga and Balatonszentgyörgy numerous vacation destination can be found.

The northern part is steeper and the water is deeper as well. Both shores offer nice beaches and well cared towns to pass the vacations.

Lake Balaton, "the Sea of the Hungarian“, is about 10 kilometres wide and 195 kilometres long. Generally its depth is between 3 and 4 meters, which means there are shallow shores for the joy of children. As motor-boats and ships with the exception of certain ferry- and boat-lines are not allowed to run on the lake, Balaton - being an untouched area from this point of view - is considerably suitable for swimming, surfing and sailing.
